Meet Dr. Anita Boecksteiner

Dr Boecksteiner’s Orthopaedic and Surgical treatments include limb and joint reconstruction, of the Knee, Shoulder, Hip and Ankle/ Foot, focusing on repair, reconstruction, preservation of cartilage and joint function, and effective validated surgical treatments for arthritis, sports injuries, trauma, non unions, and congenital defects. She is an active member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA), the Royal Australian College of Surgeons ( RACS), and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine( ISAKOS).
Dr Anita Boecksteiner, graduated from Melbourne University Medical School in 1990, worked at the Royal Melbourne Hospital for the first few years, developing a keen interest in orthopaedics.
In the later years, between 1993 and 1996 she was teaching anatomy at Melbourne University and Stanford University and she got her Diploma in Anatomy during this time. In 1999 she obtained her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (in orthopaedics) in Melbourne, secured a place at St Vincent’s hospital in Melbourne in Reconstructive and Alignment surgery. From 2000 to 2002, she participated in post FRACS fellowships in Knee Sports injuries – in Melbourne and Innsbruck, and in limb deformity correction in Liverpool UK, and Belfast.
She is the current Victorian Chair of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA), and a member of the AOA Federal Board. She is the current Director of Orthopaedic Training and Senior Orthopaedic consultant surgeon at St Vincent’s Public Hospital and practices at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, as well as at John Fawkner Private Hospital. She is the Medical Advisory Committee Chair of John Fawkner Hospital. She also visits Seymour District Hospital on a regular basis.
She has been a Senior Lecturer at Melbourne University Clinical school, as well as past Anatomy lecturer and demonstrator. She has been a past anatomy teacher at Stanford University CA. Her services include limb and joint reconstruction, arthritis, sports injuries, trauma, and congenital defects.
